  1. Franklin's Portion Pack: The perfect at-home movie popcorn packet.

Posted by Adam on 6th Jan 2016

Past attempts to re-create the sensation of authentic movie theater popcorn have fallen short, and typically resulted in salty messes & topical burns. The all in one portion packet complete with butter, seasonings, and kernels offered a much more authentic (and simple) clone of the treat we all crave when we visit the cinema.

Admittedly, my first attempt using a 6 quart pan was mildly successful, but I ended up with a number of un-popped or burnt kernels. After getting back up on the horse, my second batch using my stove top popper turned out perfectly, with every kernel popped to its potential & no burnt pieces were to be found. The conclusion I came to was: technique ruined my first try.

Since then, I've made a number of packets & gifted a few, but each batch has turned out as successful as the last.

I did notice that my instinct is to season the batch (like with 'regular' popcorn) however post-pop salt is superfluous since it's added up front. It certainly takes some getting used to, but its well worth foregoing tradition to get the ideal results.

Since we received the packets, I've definitely become a fan of having the movie going experience so readily available at home.
All that's left is the candy, soda, & movie....I guess the popcorn is a good start.

  2. Awesome popcorn

    Best popcorn ever.

  3. Slightly edges previous brand

Posted by Unknown on 28th Jan 2015

I just received the Franklins last week and have only popped one package. I saw the email about increased un-popped kernels, but I did not notice any increase, actually seemed to be fewer. Based on a statistical population of 1, so far, I thought the texture was a bit more tender, so that is a plus to me. I pop in one of those stove-top poppers with a handle crank. I let it heat up, put the oil in, let that heat up, the add the popcorn. It's subjective, but for me, a slight edge to the new brand; but then, I still have a whole case to get through!

  4. excellent popcorn - best tasting

This by far is the best tasting popcorn I have tried - I get compliments all the time

  5. good popcorn - very salty seasoning

Posted by Unknown on 4th Nov 2014

I give the corn a 5, the seasoning a 1. I really like how this popcorn pops - VERY few old maids. I wish there was an oil/seasoning packet that wasn't SO salty. Then it would be perfect. For now, I will keep a gallon of water near by.
